On a chilly, windy day this autumn I stood at the base of the Mount Washington Auto Road and painted this slice of mountain slopes. Wearing lots of layers and trying to stay out of the wind, I painted quickly to try to capture the clouds as they whisked in and out of the ravines, obscured the mountain altogether, then lifted and flew off. It was a challenge and thrill as well as an opportunity to capture the mountain's tempestuous mood that day.
