River rocks come in all shapes and sizes. This big, rounded boulder looks to be a glacial erratic, moved by a mile-deep sheet of ice to this spot thousands of years ago. Now it sits immovable in the stream, providing a shaded eddy on one side where trout can hide. The shadowy, green depths contrast with the bright, sunlit buff, blue and chartreuse tones of rock and moving water all sparkling on a perfect summer day along the river.
