The Presidential Range of the White Mountains of New Hampshire is stunning in all seasons, but it is probably most spectacular at the peak of fall foliage. Containing the highest peaks highest peaks in the region, the summits are named for American presidents. The tallest mountain in the range is Mount Washington, standing at 6,288 feet. Peak foliage typically comes around from the end of September through the second week of October, and although the leaves are at their brightest oranges, reds and yellows, a breath of winter can sweep in, turning the rocky summits snowy white while the leave continue to glow beneath them.

This is the gorgeous view of the Presidential Range from the town of Bethlehem, just to the west. Scenic backroads wander by open pastures that look out over this view, stretching from Mount Jefferson all the way to peaks in the Pemigewasset Wilderness. This monumental, panoramic painting in oils is a true statement piece that captures the White Mountains in their most brilliant autumnal glory.
