There is a tangle of trails on the Northern slopes of the Presidential Range and therefore myriad ways to reach the treeline. One route is to take the beautiful Israel Ridge Trail up from Randolph as it steadily climbs toward Mount Adams. You'll meet fewer people on this trail and it winds through gorgeous hardwood forests before eventually reaching treeline where you get unique views out over that end of the range. Look west and Mount Jefferson summit awaits.
